SOA Limited is one of the incredible businesses we are proud to have on the 2nd floor of Offiss.

SOA Limited, short for ‘Service Oriented Approach, specialises in software development and application architecture services for both public and private sectors. Their primary focus is on system integration, which involves enabling seamless communication between various systems or between systems and end-users.

The team at SOA have extensive experience working with a diverse range of clients, including international governments, universities, and private sector companies. Currently, they are expanding their services to include the Ministry of Defence and other defence agencies.

Luke Edwards, Managing Director at SOA Limited, shares his tips on starting a business.

What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?

Don’t be afraid to take risks and try new things. When we're young, we often have a fear of failure that can hold us back from pursuing our dreams or exploring new opportunities. But in reality, failure is a natural part of the learning process and can be an invaluable teacher. So, I would encourage my younger self to embrace the unknown, be curious, and not let the fear of failure stop me from taking chances and pursuing my passions.

What is one tip for people starting their own business?

Starting your own business can be an exciting and rewarding journey, but it can also be a challenging one. Growing a business can be extremely time-consuming, stressful, and exhausting. If I had to give one tip to people starting their own business, it would be to focus on building a strong network of mentors, advisors, and supporters. Having a community of people who can offer guidance, share their experiences, and provide emotional support can be invaluable in helping you navigate the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. Having a solid team who shares your vision and works collaboratively with you is absolutely essential. It is important to ensure that everyone is on the same journey towards achieving your shared goals

If you could be immortal, what age would you choose to stop aging at and why?

The idea of being immortal is an intriguing one, but it's also difficult to imagine what it would really be like to live forever. If I had the choice to stop aging at a certain age, I think I would choose to stop just before I’m 30, as it’s when my age started to show and I stopped getting ID’ed!

At that age, I would still be physically fit and able to enjoy all the activities that I love. I would also have enough life experience to feel confident in my decisions and my ability to navigate the world, but I would still have a long future ahead of me to continue learning and growing.

Another reason why I would choose to stop aging at that age is I think it would be a good balance between youth and maturity. I would still have the energy and enthusiasm of a younger person, but I would also have a more developed sense of self and a greater perspective on life.
