Optimise Studio is a consultancy practice dedicated to helping organisations deliver better e-learning. Their Optimised Learning Framework (OLF) has helped over 50,000 learners and organisations with learning and development. Optimise are trusted advisors to the British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD) and National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics.
The consultancy side of the business provides advice and guidance on implementing best practices for learning, while the studio side designs and produces bespoke e-learning courses. Organisation scan work directly with the studio on the digital courses they wish to create.
Andy Parton founded Optimise Studio after over 20 years of experience working with renowned organisations such as the Department for Education, Nord Anglia PLC and Apple.
Here Andy shares his tips for starting a business.
What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
Make time for reading non-fiction books. I used to hate reading, but now it's part of my daily routine. Reading can expand your mind and help you discover new ways of thinking. You can find solutions to problems others have already encountered. If you don't like to read, try audiobooks. The most important part of reading or listening is taking action on what you've learnt.
What is one tip for people starting their own business?
One word: patience! You can achieve a lot if you compound your efforts over time. Most people don't see instant results, so they give up too soon or get distracted by other business ideas. Patience is allowing yourself the time to build a solid foundation and achieve sustainable growth.
If you could be immortal, what age would you choose to stop aging and why?
"Lagom" is a Swedish word translated as "just right". That would be 40 for me- right down the middle! Old enough to have experienced most things in life, yet young enough to still have my own teeth!
